Eden House

The replacement dwelling was set within the beautiful grounds of an old Victorian garden in Cumbria. We engaged Eden District planning authority early on with a well presented concept design scheme and the planning officer was very encouraging and supportive based on this information.

From the outset the structure was always going to be challenging due to large uninterrupted spaces. We worked carefully with the specialist timber frame manufacturer, the engineers, and the main contractor Barry Hodgson.

We worked in partnership with Ty Cefn Ltd to manage the design, manufacturer and erection of the main structure on site.

Barry Hodgson (B&K Construction and Management) managed the complete build and due to be nominated Builder of the Year for this project by the Cumbrian LABC in 2023.

Our clients after living in the house for 12 months reported that during the heat wave of 2022 the building kept a comfortable internal temperature thanks to the large overhang that was designed to keep out the summer sun.
